Death Is Not The Point

Check this out: "Like water spilled on the ground, which cannot be recovered, so we must die. But that is not what God desires; rather, he devises ways so that a banished person does not remain banished from him."

What a great verse! What a wonderful explanation of why Jesus came! What a concise statement of the Gospel!

Except that it's from the Old Testament; and these words were spoken to David by a "wise woman" in 2 Samuel 14:14.

This shows us something about the character of God, namely that He DOES NOT CHANGE. Peter reiterates this idea in 2 Peter 3:9, "The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance."

Is ours an Amazing God or what?

Against Me

Getting ready to lay down at the end of the day, and I'm looking back on what now seems so trivial. I just have to wonder why allow so many not true things plague me. For instance, if I know who I am in Christ why do I let people drag me down? Doesn't Isaiah 54:17 say, "no weapon forged against you will prevail?"

I don't know. I guess I'm just human. God, love me tonight as I sleep. Teach me grace and help me learn how to let Mercy lead me.
